Regulations Regarding CTU Students’ Overseas Internship

I.                   In order to expand international perspectives, increase practical experiences, and to set up a norm for students abroad to follow, in compliance with the Students’ Off-campus Regulations, we have hereby drafted the Regulations Regarding CTU Students’ Overseas Internships (The Regulations).

II.                The Regulations do not include internships taken in China.

III.             The students who possess a formal student ID of the University may consider the departmental curriculum and courses and apply for internship overseas in any semester in any academic year, including summer vacation. The applicant is required to fill-out “The Application Form of Overseas Internship,” and to prepare related documents. They shall apply according to the procedure described in the Regulations before deadline.

IV.             Candidates of the internship organizations overseas may be recommended by the Departments (of Graduate Schools), or may be matched by employment organizations approved by Taiwanese Government. Moreover, it should be approved by the Meeting of the Department Affairs, and should be enforced under the contract signed between CTU and the overseas internship institute.

V.                During the internship abroad, the Departments (Graduate Schools) should arrange counselors to help these students.

VI.             The Application Criteria

(1)   The student’s GPA should meet the standard of 60 (or above) upon summation. The conduct score should be 70 (or above). Moreover, there can be no admonition, minor demerit, or major demerit.

(2)   The students should be equipped with listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills of the language needed for their overseas internship.

(3)   The students should have the ability to live independently and behave properly.

(4)   Institute offering oversea internship or the position that the student engages in should be in accordance with his/her specialty for which s/he has been trained by courses in the Department, or is recognized by the Department and can have long-term compliance with the internship courses.

VII.          Verifying Procedure

The applicants should be verified by the Department (or Graduate School) at the first step, and be listed. Then the list should be approved by the meeting of the Department as well as the school’s Committee of Off-Campus Internship. Those who pass the verifications are qualified to be sent to the Office of the Student Development.

VIII.       Prior to the internship, the admitted students should do and pay attention to the following:

(1)   They should complete all steps requested in the Regulations for going abroad.

(2)   They should abide by the regulations CTU and the institute/company offering internship have made. The parents of the student should sign the “affidavit”.

(3)   The overseas internship expenses, including internship expense, round-trip tickets, communication, board and lodging expenses, visa, insurance expense, and so on, are raised or funded by the student.

(4)   The students are required to complete the insurance for overseas accidents before going abroad. Furthermore, the students need to attend related educational training and job orientation before going.

(5)   Students who need to fulfill military obligation required by Taiwanese government should be listed by the departments, and should offer a copy to the Student Development Center, all of which must conform to the Law of Conscription.

(6)   Students should submit practical training insight, reports, and achievement, based on the regulations of the practice training. They should also submit a complete report to the departments (graduate schools) one month after the completion of the internship.

IX.             The departments (graduate schools) should plan thoroughly regarding the students’ security overseas, and ask the overseas business to supply the students with accommodation. If the overseas business cannot supply accommodation, assistance of accommodation and security should be requested.
